Oscar, aka "Alex" was brought up by a mother who liked to dress him in girls' clothes and take photos of him, but she enjoyed him being a boy too and keep his hair short in a boys' haircut and let him be a typical boy instead of aggressively feminizing his actions, and therefore, we see him in his girlie clothes but still looking very boyish as he prances around in girlish clothes.
