So are they girlish boys or girls with penises? Was he crazy? Inspired? A lover or hater of little girls or girlish boys? In a majority of Darger's drawings a lot of the girls/boys are naked and there is no mistaking that these girls (?) have a little penis and testicles between their legs. We love his drawings, but are not interested in nudity, so we put cute little panties on all of his little boy-girls.
During his life, Darger was a reclusive and friendless man. His art was not only totally unknown to the art world, no one knew of his drawings until after his death and his landlord discovered hundreds of his drawings and watercolors along with a 15,000 page novel he wrote in conjunction with the drawings about his unusual fantasy world. Now he is considered a significant talent among art collectors. Plus a full-length movie was made about his life and art that you can rent from places that specialize in art house movies. We adapted our 'Princessized' drawings from the movie’s press kit.
